Jennie's Photography
Although I have a variety of artwork including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, digital work, and interdisciplinary projects, my main focus has been photography. I mainly shoot in black and white because I love its simplicity and drama. Color can be so distracting and doesn't have the same mood as black and white. I love photographing children and families.
I enjoy the creative challenge of going to a variety of locations, dealing with different lighting situations, and figuring out how to best portray people so they are comfortable and in their own surroundings. I like my photos to show people being who they are. I want people to look back in many years and be able to say, "Now that's the little Avery I remember!" This I am after, opposed to formal, heavily-posed shots with artificial backgrounds and props that do not relate to the individual's personality, taken in places where people (especially children) do not feel comfortable or truly themselves.
